ABOUT ME
Hi, I'm Cynthia

HOW I GOT HERE
I've lived in California for most of my adult life but I grew up in Pennsylvania. Ten years ago, I was living in San Diego when I met my now-husband and moved to the Five Cities to be close to him. Early on, I lived in Shell Beach for about a year, and moved to Pismo Heights four years ago.
CAREER
I earned an undergraduate degree in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Minnesota and a law degree from UCLA.
My engineering career began with structural analysis, but interest in a broader holistic approach lead me to mechanical systems engineering, most recently on NASA's lunar Gateway space station program.
As a lawyer, I found a niche as counsel for a small manufacturing firm, advising on general corporate matters and protecting their intellectual property through patents and trademarks.
I also have a growing business that uses the tools of improvisation to help people and teams to better communicate, collaborate and think on their feet.
PUBLIC SERVICE
From 2018-2022, I served on the Oceano Community Services District Board, where I advocated for transparent, accountable government and asked the hard questions.
VOLUNTEER WORK
For many years, I've been an environmental advocate, affiliated with Surfrider, the Sierra Club and the Dunes Alliance. Since discovering the joys of unscripted theater about four years ago, I started the local nonprofit Improv for Good, which offers performances and workshops for charitable purposes and underserved communities.
FAMILY & FUN
My husband Brad and I live in Pismo Heights with our border collie mix Willow and cats Ella and Rosie.
I enjoy swimming, running on the beach, improv and surfing with Brad.
